Telling time
There are several ways to ask the time in Spanish. See a few examples below:
¿Qué hora es? - What time is it?
Disculpe, ¿Qué hora es? - Excuse me, what time is it?
¿Te molestaría decirme la hora? - Would you mind telling me the time?
¿A qué hora llega? - What time does he/she get here?
¿A qué hora vienes? - What time are you coming?
¿A qué hora abre el banco? - What time do the bank open?
¿A qué hora sucedió esto? - What time did this happen?
Disculpe, ¿Qué hora es? - Excuse me, what time is it?
¿Te molestaría decirme la hora? - Would you mind telling me the time?
¿A qué hora llega? - What time does he/she get here?
¿A qué hora vienes? - What time are you coming?
¿A qué hora abre el banco? - What time do the bank open?
¿A qué hora sucedió esto? - What time did this happen?
There are also many different ways to answer the time in Spanish. Notice that for one (singular) you use the word es and for two, three, etc. (plural) you use the word son.
Es la una. - It's one o'clock.
Son las dos. - It's two o'clock.
Ya es la una y media de la tarde. - It is one thirty p.m. already.
Son las doce. - It's twelve o'clock.
Hace una hora. - An hour ago.
Es tarde. - It's late.
Es temprano. - It's early.
Son las dos. - It's two o'clock.
Ya es la una y media de la tarde. - It is one thirty p.m. already.

If you want to be more precise, you may use terms such as early morning, morning, afternoon or evening.
Son las dos de la madrugada.
It's two o’clock in the early morning.

It's five o’clock in the afternoon.
Son las ocho y media de la noche.
It's eight thirty in the evening.

Let's review more detailed time within the hour. We use the verb ser (to be) to say the time. Notice that when you say the time with one o'clock (singular), you begin with es. Let's look at some examples:
Es la una menos cuarto. - It's fifteen til one.
Es la una menos veinte - It's twenty til one.
Es la una. - It's one o’clock.
Es la una en punto. - It's one o’clock sharp.
Es la una y cuarto. - It's one fifteen.
Es la una y veinte. - It's one twenty.
Es la una y media. - It's one thirty.
Es la una menos cuarto. - It's fifteen til one.
Es la una menos veinte - It's twenty til one.
Es la una. - It's one o’clock.

When you say the time after two, three or later (plural), you begin with son.
Son las dos. - It's two o’clock.

Son las cinco y cuarto. - It's five fifteen.
Son las seis menos cuarto. - It's fifteen til six.
Son las tres menos cinco. - It's five til three.
For midnight or noon, you begin with es.
Es el mediodía - It's noon.
Es la medianoche - It's midnight.

Use of cuánto, mucho, and poco
We use ¿cuánto?, ¿cuánta?, ¿cuántos?, and ¿cuántas? to ask how much of something or how many.
- ¿Cuánto cuesta el libro?

To talk about how much of something, we can use mucho (a lot; many) and poco (a little, few).

Shakira - Gitana
"Gitana" became Shakira's sixteenth top ten on the U.S. Hot Latin Songs chart when it reached number eight, making her the third female artist with most top ten on the chart. It was released as the fourth and final single of her album She Wolf. The video features Shakira dancing, embracing and finally kissing the tennis champion Rafael Nadal. It was directed by Jaume de Laiguana in Barcelona. The video tops the Billboard's weekly list of Top 10 videos.
